Syrian troops intensified their attacks on dissidents and rebel hideouts in the northern province of Idlib on Tuesday, a day after Damascus announced it will start implementing a UN peace plan on April 10. Two civilians and one soldier were killed in Idlib's Taftanaz city in clashes between troops and rebels, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. A Western diplomat based in Damascus told DPA that a UN team was scheduled to arrive in the country in 48 hours, to discuss sending between 150-200 UN monitors to supervise the ceasefire, in keeping with UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's peace plan.
