A powerful rainstorm storm is battering Japan, paralyzing traffic and leaving thousands of homes without electricity. Two people have been killed and dozens injured by the rainstorm that lashed across Japan's main island of Honshu Tuesday. Its winds of 108 kilometers (67 miles) per hour were nearly typhoon strength, but the storm was triggered by a low pressure system. The Meteorological Agency urged people to stay indoors. Police said two people died in separate warehouse collapses in Toyama in the north and Kagawa in southern Japan. Public broadcaster NHK tallied at least 97 people injured. The storm halted commuter trains and grounded more than 500 domestic flights in and around Tokyo. Many companies and stores closed early. More than 10,000 households in northern Japan were without electricity, according to a report of the Associated Press.
