India and Brazil Friday agreed to step up efforts on reform of the UN Security Council and pledged to enhance cooperation at global forums, according to dpa. The two countries also signed several agreements for cooperation in science and technology, culture and education after talks between visiting Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "President Rousseff and I have agreed to enhance our consultations on reform of the global governance system, particularly in the context of the reforms of the United Nations and in the G20 process," Singh said at a joint press briefing after their meeting. Rousseff is on a four-day visit to India, primarily to attend the fourth summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. It was held Thursday. Rousseff, Brazil's first female president, was scheduled to meet later Friday with Indian President Pratibha Patil and Sonia Gandhi, chief of the Indian National Congress party, which leads the governing coalition.
