A raging wildfire in the US state of Colorado has killed two people, forced thousands of others to evacuate, and destroyed at least 16 homes, dpa quoted Denver TV station KCNC as reporting Tuesday. The fire is believed to have started from a planned burn conducted last week to clear inflammable wild brush, but which fanned out of control over the weekend due to strong winds and tinder-dry conditions. The blaze in Jefferson County, some 40 kilometres south-west of Denver, underscored the unusual weather conditions much of the United States has experienced this winter, as the area of the blaze is usually covered in snow at this time of year. The report said that evacuations had been ordered for residents of 900 houses, and that over 16 homes had been destroyed in the blaze which was estimated at over 1,800 hectares on Tuesday.
