Authorities in Colorado were searching for eight people Wednesday who may have been trapped in homes razed by a wildfire raging out of control west of the city of Boulder. The Fourmile Canyon fire had burned some 2,400 hectares and destroyed 54 homes, Boulder County sheriff's office commander Rick Brough said. The missing people had failed to heed evacuation orders. A further 12 people who had been unaccounted for had been located, dpa quoted Brough as saying. The fire, which has forced the evacuation of some 3,000 people, was ignited by unknown causes on Monday. More than 200 firefighters, aided by water-dropping tankers, were trying to contain the blaze.
