Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani has denounced statements issued by the official spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood movement in the Arab Republic of Egypt Mahmoud Ghozlan toward the United Arab Emirates. He described the statements as irresponsible and lacking wisdom and contrary to Arab and Islamic peoples' links. He added that they do not serve the efforts of the GCC and the Arab Republic of Egypt to strengthen their ties that have taken root on solid rules over the years. Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani said that what affects the United Arab Emirates affects all GCC countries, stressing rejection of the GCC countries of the threats made by Mahmoud Ghozlan which come completely in violation of all efforts to unite the Arab and Islamic world and reject division. It also ignores the embrace of the UAE of Arabs and its adoption of the issues of the Arab world in a denial condemned by all sane people. He added that these demagogic statements by a senior party official are reprehensible and irresponsible and do not indicate good intentions toward governments and peoples of the region. At the end of his statement, the Secretary-General expressed his confidence that such statements reflect a small group that does not seek what is good for relations among Arab and Islamic peoples.
