Six British soldiers are believed to have been killed in an explosion which hit an armored vehicle in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence in London (MoD) said Wednesday. It described the soldiers as missing, believed to be dead. That phrase normally means that the deaths have occurred, but the bodies have not been recovered, according to a report of DPA. Prime Minister David Cameron said this was a "desperately sad day" for Britain and for the soldiers' families. "It is a reminder of the huge price that we are paying for the work we are doing in Afghanistan and the sacrifice that our troops have made and continue to make," the premier said from his Downing Street office. The incident, which happened on Tuesday in Helmand province, would take the total death toll among British military personnel in Afghanistan to 404 since the conflict began. Defence Secretary Philip Hammond condemned the attack which he said would not divert from the task of rebuilding Afghanistan.
