Four British soldiers have died in a single day in attacks in southern Afghanistan, dpa cited the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as saying in London today. The fatalities claimed in three separate incidents marked the "bloodiest day" for British troops in southern Afghanistan over the past year, the BBC said. The MoD said that two soldiers were killed in a suicide attack on a convoy of NATO-led forces in Helmand province Thursday. Another soldier died in a roadside explosion and a fourth was shot while on patrol, taking the total of British military fatalities in Afghanistan to 157.
