A 78-year-old man shot and killed two doctors in southwestern Germany on Monday before killing himself as police closed in, authorities said. A police officer was wounded in the chase. The man entered a general-practice medical clinic in Weilerbach in the afternoon and immediately opened fire, said Andreas Petry, spokesman for police in nearby Kaiserslautern. He hit two doctors, men ages 63 and 47 whose names were not released, who died shortly afterward of their injuries. The suspect fled the building and as police gave chase, he fired at officers and wounded one before retreating inside his home, Petry said. When police stormed the building, they found the man dead inside, AP reported. A motive was not immediately clear, and it is not known whether the man, whose name was not released, was a patient. The police officer's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening, Petry said.
