A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake hit Argentina on Monday, but there were no reports of damage or injury.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake happened before dawn local time (0746 GMT) and was centered about 112 kilometers east-southeast of the city of Santiago del Estero. However, the earthquake was very deep, at 550 kilometers below the surface of the Earth.
