Apple's App Store reaches 25-billion download mark

Apple's App Store for iPad and iPhone devices recorded its 25 billionth application download on Saturday, its
iTunes website showed, though the company has yet to announce the
winner of a 10,000-dollar app store gift voucher, according to dpa.
The new milestone showed that app downloading volumes have
accelerated sharply: It took nine months for the first billion apps
to be downloaded after their launch in 2008 and it was only in
January 2011 that the 10-billion mark was reached.
The app store now offers around 600,000 applications to owners of
Apple devices.
