Apple's App Store for iPad and iPhone devices recorded its 25 billionth application download on Saturday, its iTunes website showed, though the company has yet to announce the winner of a 10,000-dollar app store gift voucher, according to dpa. The new milestone showed that app downloading volumes have accelerated sharply: It took nine months for the first billion apps to be downloaded after their launch in 2008 and it was only in January 2011 that the 10-billion mark was reached. The app store now offers around 600,000 applications to owners of Apple devices.
