ever free app on Apple Store by an Arab telecommunications and data operator, Saudi Arabia's Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) launched a namesake app for iPhone and iPad users. With the Mobily App, users can review their bills (postpaid) and credits (prepaid), transfer credits to other users, and navigate to the nearest Mobily outlet in the Kingdom, to name a few of the numerous features. Mobily said it only launched the app after rigorous tests by its IT engineers to make sure that the app works flawlessly on users' iPhone. The Mobily App can be found under utilities on Apple's Store website. The app also can show users their points in Mobily's most advanced customer retention program in the region, called Neqaty, which translates to “My Points” in Arabic. Users can also use the app to activate or deactivate services directly. Mobily said the app keeps them constantly in touch with the company. Users who subscribe to rival companies can also download the app to find out about the products and a service Mobily has to offer them. The move is part of Mobily's new strategy, which its CEO Khalid Al Kaf had made public a few weeks earlier, and which aims to enrich the lives of its customers and maintain its leadership in data services and applications. The app also works on the iPod Touch MP3 player and the iPad. Mobily is the Kingdom's sole distributor of Apple's iPhone, a runaway success in the Kingdom. Analysts said the iPhone's phenomenal success was due to the sudden growth in consumer confidence in the device, now that it's being distributed by a big-name operator such as Mobily, which sells and services the device.
