The Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a public warning that a cold wave accompanied by active winds will hit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and continue until Sunday. The Civil Defense said a report from the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment stated that the cold wave will cause temperatures to drop to between six and 12 degrees Celsius in northern parts of the Kingdom, with minimum temperatures likely below zero. Middle and eastern parts of the Kingdom and northern parts of the western region, Riyadh region and the Eastern Province will be affected by the weather changes on Saturday, according to the report published today by Saudi Gazette. The speed of active winds accompanying the cold wave will reach 60 kilometers an hour, causing dust and low visibility in eastern and middle parts of the Kingdom, and Najran, Asir, Al-Baha and Makkah. These weather changes are expected to continue until Sunday. Col. Abdullah Bin Thabit Al-Harthi, spokesman of the Civil Defense Directorate, urged all citizens and expatriates to be careful when using heating devices in the regions affected by the cold weather.
