Several minor quakes hit Hotan, a county in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Monday evening, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The first quake, measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale, hit Hotan at 9:52 p.m., according to the center. The quake was followed by three more quakes, measuring 4.8 to 3.1 on the Richter scale, in half an hour. The epicenter of the quakes, was near 35.9 degrees north latitude and 79.8 degrees east longitude, Xinhua quoted the CENC as saying.
