The two-day Preventive Medicine and Public Health Care Conference began its works yesterday at the Intercontinental Hotel Jeddah with a view to improve the quality of public health through prevention and treatment of diseases and other physical and mental conditions. The conference is organized by the National Guard Health Affairs and King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in collaboration with the Community and Preventive Medicine western region. It was inaugurated by Dr. Mansour bin Ahmed Al-Jundi, the executive director of the National Guard Health Affairs in the western region. Dr. Badar Al-Jasir, director of the Community and Preventive Medicine Jeddah and chairman of the scientific committee said that 32 research papers with an inter-disciplinary approach on public health programs and services would be discussed, including epidemiology, community and school health, maternal and child health, environmental and occupational health, oral health, biostatistics, public policy and health services. “Our goal is to provide leadership in the field of preventive medicine and public health and to share and build essential partnerships that provide the framework for a nationwide plan of action, said Dr. Fadel Kamal, deputy executive director of medical services and general supervisor of the Preventive Medicine and Public Health Care Conference. As part of the health conference, an international workshop on professional aspects of epidemiology and health research will also be held tomorrow, according to a report published today by Arab News.
