An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted South Halmahera, North Maluku Province, on Saturday at 2.06 pm Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB). The tremor did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, ANTARA quoted the national meteorological, climatology and geophysics office (BMKG) as saying. The quake's epicenter was located at 0.89 degrees southern latitude, 126.88 degrees eastern longitude, 132 km southwest of South Halmahera, and at a depth of 10 km below sea level.
