KACST President Inaugurates International Workshop On Energy Efficiency

The President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel inaugurated here today at KACST headquarters the International Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Its Role in Formulating Energy Policies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali Bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Assistant Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for Petroleum Affairs, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, a large number of government officials, specialists, and experts from National Renewable Energy Laboratory of U.S. Department of Energy.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Al-Suwaiyel stressed that electricity sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is facing several challenges, notably the high rate of growth of demand amounting to 8% per year, indicating that this ratio is one of the highest in the world according to estimates.
