Three-day meetings of a preliminary revision of commercial policies pursued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia started at World Trade Organization (WTO) headquarters here today, the first of its kind since the Kingdom was admitted to the organization in 2005. Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq bin Fuzan Al-Rabiah leads his country's delegation to the meetings. Al-Rabiah addressed the opening session in which he reviewed the long Saudi history in trade dealings with other countries, its glorious record in pursuing economic overture, a fact that the Saudi Government keeps a pace with, pointing out that it welcomes implementation of WTO regulations and rules, because the Kingdom and WTO cherish the same stances and economic regulations. He also said that Saudi Arabia is committed to open commodity and service markets, alike, saying that the preliminary revision will be an opportunity to display the progress achieved by the Kingdom in the domain of development as well as economic diversification. -- SPA
