A highly-sensitive and complicated surgery performed for a 55-year-old Saudi female patient turned successful at Al-Noor Specialist Hospital in Makkah, doctors at the hospital reported today. In a statement, Dr. Khalid Yamani, Chief and Consultant Cardiologist at the hospital, said the woman was admitted to hospital complaining from severe pains at the chest and back with high blood pressure. Diagnosis showed that a severe explosion had taken place at the aorta wall, leading to a critical enlargement of the organ from its normal size ranging from 2.5 -3 cm to 8.5 cm. Dr. Yamani said a serious and complicated open heart surgery was performed immediately which, despite its internationally-poor chances of success has turned to a 100 % good result, thanks to the skillfulness of the operation team and advanced capabilities available at the hospital.
