The White House on Tuesday said that U.S. President Barack Obama and Jordanian King Abdullah II will discuss the stalled Middle East peace process during their meeting next week. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that Obama has praised the Jordanian King's efforts in restarting talks for Middle East peace. The meeting in Washington between the two leaders comes a week after King Abdullah II hosted Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Amman, Jordan, to discuss the future of the peace process. The talks, which were arranged through Quartet mediators, come after more than 15 months following the collapse of the last round of talks. “The president has already thanked King Abdullah II for hosting the resumption of talks,” Carney said. The White House meeting next week, however, will not revolve around peace talks alone, he added, specifying: “it won't be limited to the Middle East peace process.” The United States, Carney said, will continue to work with Jordan and other allies to address the “very difficult issue” of Middle East peace.
