Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Chairman of Board of Directors of Khalid bin Sultan Foundation for Wildlife Conservation in Oceans, inaugurated here on Sunday evening the International Symposium of Conservation of Coral Reefs in the Red Sea organized by the Foundation. Addressing the three-day Symposium, the Prince highlighted the Foundation's achievements during a decade including among others maritime survey of more than half a million hectares at the level of the world (5 billion square meters), which has helped scientists and experts in maritime affairs in discovering new coral reefs, noting that studies carried out by the Foundation in cooperation with various national bodies on Saudi territorial waters in the Red Sea, have resulted in the first Maritime Atlas of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He praised the establishment of a maritime scientific society, wishing it success in the achievement of its objectives and launched the website of Saudi Society for Seas Sciences on the Internet. In a press statement, Prince Khalid bin Sultan said that the Foundation was established by Saudis to serve maritime wildlife and it started maritime exploration around the world for 6 months and will continue its works until 2015.
