The Khaled Bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation has been accepted into the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) as an organization member, the President of AAUS said Friday. “On behalf of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences, I wish to extend our welcome and congratulations to the Khaled Bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation,” said AAUS President C. McDonald. Captain Philip Renaud, the executive director of the Foundation said: “Establishing a professional scientific diving program is a major milestone for our Foundation ensuring safe and effective coral reef research throughout our ambitious Global Reef Expedition program and beyond.” The Khaled Bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation is dedicated to ocean conservation through scientific research. The foundation was founded by Prince Khaled Bin Sultan, with its headquarters based in Washington. The Foundation's membership into the AAUS affirms that it conducts its underwater surveys in a manner consistent with the highest standards of scientific diving. AAUS facilitates the development of safe and productive scientific divers through education, research, advocacy, and the advancement of standards for scientific diving practices, certifications, and operations.
