Two gunmen have shot a 35-year-oldSyrian man dead near the German city of Hanover, police said Monday, dpa reported. Police declined to give any other identifying information about the victim, who was shot Sunday in his car while it was stopped at a red light in Sarstedt, on the southern outskirts of Hanover. "We have no evidence whatever to suggest a xenophobic orpolitically-motivated attack," senior prosecutor Bernd Seemann said. Prosecutors believe the shooting was deliberate murder. Two gunmen walked up to halted car late at night and began firing their guns through side windows into it, then ran away. Police said the dead man had lived in a nearby city, Hildesheim, but was a frequent visitor to Sarstedt.
