Sharjah Investment and Development Authority "Shurouq" has officially launched the Al Majaz Waterfront, one of the region's largest tourism project. The project is now opened to large crowds of visitors and tourists in the emirate of Sharjah, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM". Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurouq's debut project, is situated on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon, between Jamal Abdul Nasser Street and the Khalid Lagoon Corniche, a highly populated area in the emirate of Sharjah. Shurouq had begun works on the construction of this project in mid-2010 with the aim of developing a leisure and tourism destination of choice benchmarked with the highest standards. The project which is valued at AED 100 million, is spread over an area of 231,000 square feet. The Al Majaz Waterfront project includes musical fountains, 8 restaurants and cafes, jogging areas, cycling tracks, a landmark mosque, an art and sculpture park, a splash park, 1000 parking spaces, other recreational places and public utility services and facilities.
