The leaders of France and Germany are looking to rally fellow European conservatives around their latest bid to save the eurozone from collapsing under the weight of huge state debt, AP reported. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy are heading to Marseille to meet with heads of state and government from the center-right European People's Party before moving on to Brussels for a crucial EU summit, with the euro currency's fate in the balance. The leaders will be looking to build support for their plan for eurozone nations to submit their economies to much greater scrutiny. The plan is designed in part to calm markets over the ability of the eurozone to get a grip on their public finances.
