At least 10 people were killed and five injured Wednesday when a truck overturned and tumbled off the side of a hill in central Vietnam after its brakes failed. The driver was among the injured but fled the scene, Colonel Nguyen Dang Viet, deputy director of the district Police Department, said by telephone from the scene, adding that the driver had violated safety laws by carrying 15 passengers in a truck in which he also was hauling wood. The accident occurred in the Con Cuong district of Nghe An province when the truck's brakes failed as it was driving up a hill, one of the injured told reporters from hospital. Three of the injured were in critical condition, Viet was quoted as saying by DPA.
