The Malaysian government donated about $100,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). A press statement from the Malaysian foreign ministry said this contribution indicates Malaysia's ongoing support of the Palestinian people's legitimate right to form an independent Palestinian state. UNRWA works for human development through providing education, health, social and emergency services to about 5 million registered Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, according to a report of Palestine News and Information Agency "WAFA".
