Spain's Labor Ministry says the number of people filing for unemployment benefits rose by 59,536 in November, according to AP. The increase announced Friday raised the total seeking benefits to 4,420,462. It was the first monthly release by the ministry since the conservative Popular Party won a landslide victory over the ruling Socialists in Nov. 20 elections. Party leader Mariano Rajoy is due to take office as prime minister Dec. 21. He is expected to introduce severe economic reforms in a bid to reboot the ailing economy. Spain's jobless rate stands at a 15-year high of 21.5 percent, the highest in the eurozone, and the economy posted zero growth in the third quarter.
