AlHijjah 28, 1432, Nov 24, 2011, SPA -- Concluding an extraordinary session in Cairo today, Arab Foreign Ministers Council called on the Syrian Government to sign a monitors mission protocol document, giving a 48-hour grace to carry the instructions. According to the Council's statement following the meeting, the Arab League Secretary General Nabeel Alarabi will dispatch an Arab League Monitor Mission to Syria to carry out its duties. The Council also called on the Syrian Government and opposition spectrum to hold a national dialogue conference to agree on the formation of a national unity caretaker government. Had Syria failed to meet the Council's decision to receive and protect the Arab mission, protect civilians, stop violence, release prisoners of opinion, the Arab Economic and Social Council meets on Saturday to consider imposing economic and political sanctions on Syria without affecting its people.
