AlHijjah 7, 1432, Nov 3, 2011, SPA -- United States President Barack Obama arrived in the French town of Cannes for a meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, host of a two-day summit of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies that was due to start later Thursday, according to dpa. "Bonjour," Obama said as he stepped out of his armoured limousine, shortly after 9:30 am (830 GMT). He and Sarkozy then walked together towards the crowd and shook a few hands before entering the Palais de Festivals and des Congres, where the G20 is taking place. Obama was due to have another bilateral with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at 1050. Sarkozy, for his part, was due to host a eurozone meeting at 10:30 am with representatives of Germany, Italy, Spain, EU institutions, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank. G20 discussions were scheduled to start at 1 pm, with a working lunch on the world economic outlook. Trade, currency issues and world governance were on the agenda of later meetings in the day.
