AlQa'dah 28, 1432, Oct 26, 2011, SPA -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday that Europe will call on the Group of 20 leading economies to introduce a financial transaction tax at their summit in France next week, according to dpa. Speaking in the German parliament, Merkel said the G20 summit in Cannes needed to take steps to ensure that taxpayers would not have to pay for the mistakes of the banking system. "We cannot continue with the 'too big to fail' rule," Merkel told parliament.
