AlQa'dah 26, 1432, Oct 24, 2011, SPA -- At least 265 people were killed in the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit south-eastern Turkey on Sunday, Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin said Monday. According to dpa, another 1,140 people were injured in the province of Van, the minister said. In the city of Ercis, which was worst hit by the quake, 970 buildings or around a third of the total collapsed, according to the government's emergency committee. Over 1,200 doctors and rescue workers from across the country were sent to the region to help care for the victims.
