AlQa'dah 26, 1432, Oct 24, 2011, SPA - The Director General of the Algerian Company for Electricity and Gas, Engineer Noureddine Bouterfa disclosed that the Algerian Government has decided to invest US $ 30 billion in electricity and gas facilities' projects for the next ten years. In a statement today, he said these 'important' investments are endorsed in response to the growing national demand for electricity and gas as well as the need to improve services in this vital and strategic sphere. "It also allows the transfer of new technology to Algeria," he added. Eng. Noureddine Bouterfa added that these investments will be focused on completing a 600 MW power plant in the city of Hassi Masoud Al-Sahrawiyah and another scheme of 400 MW power plant in the city of Hassi Al-Ramal in order to achieve self-sufficiency in the Algerian Sahara and bring about a balance in the national consumption of electricity and gas.
