AlQa'dah 26, 1432, Oct 24, 2011, SPA - Floods have killed 14 people in central provinces and the Central Highlands of Vietnam in the last week, raising the national death toll to 70 over the past month, authorities said Monday. Five people were missing and 18 injured, said the National Steering Committee for Storm Prevention and Flood Control. At least 56 persons died in the Mekong Delta, including 47 children. Floods have damaged more than 194,000 houses, and submerged more than 26,000 hectares of rice fields, the committee said. It said losses were estimated at US$100 Million, up $30 Million from its report a week ago, DPA disclosed in a dispatch from Hanoi.
