Vietnamese authorities recovered the body of a man swept away by floods last week, bringing the death toll from Tropical Storm Haima to 17, officials said Monday. Seven of the victims were struck by lightning as they worked in rice fields, two were killed by a whirlwind and one was caught in a flash flood, the National Flood and Storm Control Committee said. The storm that hit the northern provinces late Friday also left six missing and 64 injured, the committee said. More than 3,000 houses were reported swept away or destroyed, and nearly 20,000 hectares of paddy rice were submerged, according to a report of the German Press Agency "DPA".
