AlQa'dah 24, 1432, Oct 22, 2011, SPA - Tunisia's Independent Higher Authority for the Elections (IHAE) yesterday reminded all candidates to the elections of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) and the national mass media that the electoral campaign inside the national territory ends on Friday, October 21 at midnight, local hour of the country of residence, so that the following day, Saturday October 22, 2011, be the Election Silence Day. The Authority also reminds all stakeholders-candidates, mass media, etc.-that it is necessary to observe the legal requirements relating to the Election Silence Day, as they are stated in Articles 37, 38 and 39 of the Authority's decision of September 3, 2011, pertaining to the procedures and measures of the electoral campaign, which are the following: - Interdiction of the distribution of any announcements, including the nominal lists of the candidates or their pictures or the name of their lists or their programmes, after the end of the electoral campaign and during the Election Silence Day. -Interdiction of the sending of messages by mobile phones to people to influence them, or the use of any other advertising means during the Election Silence Day. -Interdiction of any updating activity of websites by any political party or running list, 24 hours before the Election Day. Any overstepping or breach of the said measures amounts to an electoral infringement punishable by law, the Authority reminded, according to a report of TAP (the Tunisian Press Agency).
