The Coordinating Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) program in Gaza Strip has allocated more than $24 million for rehabilitation of nearly 550 new residential units in Gaza within the GCC program to rehabilitate residential units demolished by the Israeli occupation during its war against Gaza Strip late 2008. Rifaat Diyab, the Field Coordinator of the Program in Gaza Strip, said the housing sector receives special interest and priority of the program which is implemented in collaboration with the Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank. The program, signed by GCC and IDB in July 2010, has so far re-built 1070 houses after having been totally ruined by Israeli warplanes and tanks and rehabilitated 1626 partially-destroyed houses in Gaza Strip, he added.
