An explosion ripped through an ammunition storage depot in southern Russia on Tuesday killing six soldiers and injuring 12, the Interfax news agency reported, citing an unnamed local law enforcement sources, according to Reuters. "The explosion occurred at 6:20 Moscow time (1420 GMT) presumably during the disposal of ammunition. As a result six officers were killed and 12 injured," he said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. The blast occurred at a military complex in the province of Astrakhan, the source said. Explosions at artillery depots have plagued the army, which is hounded by accusations of regulatory corner cutting and negligence. A fire in June at an arms depot east of Moscow killed two people and injured more than 40. -- SPA
