The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hoped that the special session of the Human Rights Council on the situation in Syria which was held in Geneva today will contribute to the improvement of the situation in Syria, will end the suffering and bloodshed of the Syrian citizens and will reach a compromise formula of a draft resolution that will be supported by all. A speech delivered by the kingdom's representative at the session Minister Plenipotentiary Ahmad Fahd Almarek stressed the kingdom's keenness on Syria's security, stability and unity and its firm desire to end violence, spare bloodshed, stop all forms of human rights violations and work for achieving the Syrian people's aspirations for reform and progress. Minister Plenipotentiary Ahmad Fahd Almarek reiterated the kingdom's stand that what is taking place in Syria is unacceptable and unjustifiable and that the Syrian leadership should activate comprehensive, fast and tangible reforms. In the speech delivered by Minister Plenipotentiary Ahmad Fahd Almarek, the kingdom called for thinking rationally in dealing with current events there, and called on the brothers in Syria to stay away from violence and to immediately cease the use of force to preserve the sanctity of human life and their right to live in dignity.
