The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session held at Al-Salam palace in Jeddah this evening. In a statement following the meeting, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja, the Minister of Culture and Information, said the Council of Ministers reviewed developments in a number of friendly Arab countries and the world, including the situation in Syria. In this concern, the Council highly valued the important significance of the speech addressed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to his brothers in Syria following the repercussions of incidents taking place in that country, during which he confirmed that any Arab and Muslim wise person would definitely conceive that falling of a big number of martyrs and the inured does not relate to our religion or values and ethics. And that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would not accept what is going on in Syria. In his speech, the monarch announced the Kingdom's historic responsibility towards it brothers, demanding the stoppage of killing machine, and bloodshed, enforcing reason before everything was over and presenting and implementing reforms relating to state of things. The Cabinet also emphasized what has been mentioned in statements issued by the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League and the United Nations Security Council, calling for prompt stoppage of violence and armed forms and aspects and putting an end to bloodshed, resorting to prudence and wisdom to preserve the national unity of the Syrian people and make serious and necessary reforms that guarantee keeping their rights, protecting their dignity and achieving their aspirations. The Cabinet denounced the Israeli authorities giving green light for building 900 new residential units in Jabal Abu-Ghunaim settlement, confirming that expansion of illegal settlements is a continuation of Israel's insistence to uproot international efforts to resume negotiations for reviving the peace process in the region. --More
