Defense officials say an Australian soldier has been killed in Afghanistan. Australian Defense Force chief Lt. Gen. David Hurley says the soldier was killed Monday by an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Uruzgan province with members of the Afghan National Army. Hurley said the soldier's family has requested his name not be released. A coalition soldier was also seriously wounded in the blast. Hurley declined to release that soldier's nationality, according to a report of the Associated Press.
