Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has warned of near depletion of food stocks in the Republic of Somalia, which is facing a humanitarian disaster because of the famine and drought, described as the worst in last 60 years. OIC issued an urgent appeal to the humanitarian relief organizations and charities societies working in Somalia, to stop buying food from the local market and depend on imports from abroad to maintain the amounts of food stocks and price stability. These field developments come in Somalia ahead of a planned emergency meeting of the OIC Executive Committee at the level of Foreign Ministers to be held in Istanbul on Wednesday to discuss the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Somalia.
