The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) said this morning that its warplanes continued to target Al-Gaddafi's capabilities in its task of protecting civilians in Libya in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution No. 1973. In an announcement made today at its headquarters in Brussels, NATO said its fighter jets carried out 48 sorties and combat-missions in a number of areas in Libya on Monday, adding that its fighter jets were able to destroy two military bases near the town of Bir Al-Ghanem along with its anti-aircraft platform. The NATO Planes also targeted an ammunition storage, a military facility, and two rocket launchers near the city of Gheryan (north-west Libya) and another storage of ammunition near Tripoli. The military operations of NATO's also covered a storage of ammunition near Wadan, the south of Tripoli and a center of command and control near the town of Zliten on the outskirts of the city of Misurata. The number of flights by NATO planes in Libya since the beginning of its operations last March, totaled 17,443 sorties, including 6,590 combat-sorties, according to NATO official statistics.
