The Secretary General of the Arab League Dr. Nabeel Al-Arabi said time is ripe to end the Arab Israeli conflict, considering going to the United Nations to get a full recognition of the State of Palestine a move not to harm Israel but to achieve fair and permanent peace in the region. In his first press conference since assuming office as Secretary General of the Arab League, Al-Arabi said he urged President Bashar Al-Assad during his recent visit to Syria, to take further steps towards concrete reforms. Dr. Al-Arabi drew the attention that the Arab League is ready to provide every assistance to the newly-born Republic of South Sudan, noting that the world's youngest state has not yet requested admission to the Arab League. Refuting accusations that the Arab League has given the okay for a foreign colonization in Libya, Al-Arabi said the Arab League demanded that a no-fly zone be imposed on Libya to protect civilians but matters then took another direction which was not intended by the Arab League.
