Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousef Jilani has decided to appoint his Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hana Rabbani Kahr to fill the several-month vacancy of Foreign Minister. Government sources in Islamabad said Jilani has forwarded his recommendation to the President of the Republic Asif Ali Zardari for approval. On the other hand, government sources in the southern Sind State and party sources said the Governor of the State Dr. Ashrat Al-Abad, who resigned from his post few weeks ago, will resume office as Governor of the State after the success of negotiations between President Asif Ali Zardari and Altaf Hussein, leader of the United National Movement Party, to which Al-Abad belongs. Ashrat's party has recently withdrawn from the ruling coalition to join the opposition.
