Several people killed in attack in Xinjiang police

A Chinese state news agency says several people have been killed in an attack on police station in Xinjiang in the far west of the country, according to AP.
The official Xinhua News Agency said "a number of thugs" were shot dead in the attack Monday on a police station in Hotan.
It did not immediately give any further details in the one-sentence report.
