South Sudan submits UN membership application

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir submitted on Monday an application for his brand new nation to become a "full United Nations member", reported the dpa.
Kiir asked UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to relay his application to both the UN Security Council and General Assembly "for consideration as soon as practicable."
