At least 46 people were seriously injured in a gas explosion at a wedding in southern Russia, dpa cited officials as saying Saturday. Six children who suffered burns were among those taken to hospital. According to media reports, a gas container exploded during the function in Vladikavkaz, the capital of the republic of North Ossetia. The cause of the explosion was not known. Weddings in the North Caucasus region are typically large-scale celebrations with hundreds of guests. The food is usually cooked in the open, for which gas cylinders are used.
