A magnitude 7.4 earthquake in the northern Pacific Ocean briefly triggered a tsunami warning along Alaska's Aleutian Islands, California and the West Coast, UPI reported. The quake, which occurred at 11:09 p.m. EDT Wednesday, was centered near the Fox Islands about 1,000 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska, the Los Angeles Times reported. An initial tsunami warning issued by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration's West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center was canceled after slightly more than an hour, the newspaper said. "No destructive tsunami has been recorded, and no tsunami danger exists along the coasts of the U.S. west coast states, Alaska and British Columbia," the center said.
