Afghanistan's Vice President Karim Khalili and other senior officials escaped unharmed after a rocket attack in central Afghanistan Wednesday, officials said. Khalili, Interior Minister Besmullah Mohammadi and senior government officials were attending the inauguration of a police training centre in Wardak province when the attack occurred, said Shahidullah Shahid, a spokesman for the provincial governor was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA". "The rocket fired by armed opposition groups struck an area some 300 metres away from the officials but fortunately no one was hurt," Shahid said. Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi said that the gathering continued without interruption and the officials were still in the province.
